Kauai Sands – Located on the beach in Kauai. It has been remodeled recently and some rooms have mini kitchens which can be useful if you wish to cook yourself. Regular customers find the   rates reasonable and hotel clean

Hilo Hawaiian Hotel – has a popular restaurant

Dolphin Bay Hotel – motel type hotel with a kitchenette in each room

Hostel : Staying in a hostel is usually the cheapest option , but you have to share a room and bathroom with other people.

A short term lease on an apartment room may be considered if the duration of the stay is more than a week or the tourist group has more than 5 members. Maps and other amenities are often available in the rented house

Room rates in hotels go up around 2nd – 3rd week in June until end of August during the peak tourist season. Visiting Hawaii during the  non – peak tourist season can save some money.

Main islands in Hawaii are:
Kauai: 552 sq. mi.
Maui: 727 sq. mi.
Hawaii: 4038 sq. mi.

Tourists can either spend a few days on each island and then fly between islands, or then take a cruise ship which stops at each of the islands for a few days.  The advantage of taking a cruise ship is that you do not spend time at the airport flying from one island to another and also do not have to check in at different hotels
